Growing Bluestem
People frequently ask us how they can get involved at Bluestem. We recognize that not everyone has the flexibility to volunteer onsite. Here are some other ways you can help us grow Bluestem. We welcome gifts of all sizes.
We are constantly educating people about the value of protecting our natural resources through natural burial. Your gift helps us reach out to the larger community with educational materials and presentations, produce informational handouts for the barn, and natural burial resources for visitors in person, and on Bluestem’s website.
Bluestem has become a living laboratory for students – high school students helping to build trails, master naturalists expanding their nature skills, graduate students in the fields of social work, journalism, divinity school, environmental awareness, ecology and technology. Your gift ensures we provide them with the support and oversight they need.
Our trails are an ongoing expansion and improvement project, everyone entirely built by Bluestem volunteers. Your gift helps us purchase and repair tools, clear invasives, improve pathways, build bridges over the creek, and install signage to direct visitors.
Welcoming newcomers to the property is vitally important to growing Bluestem. We are building a new information kiosk for the front parking area as well as a new bike rack for our traveling cyclists. Your gift can supply locally sourced cedar to help us build these features.
Thank you for growing Bluestem with us!
