Growing Bluestem 2023
People frequently ask us how they can get involved at Bluestem. We recognize that not everyone has the flexibility to volunteer onsite so we'd like to share some other ways to you can help us Grow Bluestem.
Our fundraising goals this year will enable us to reach more people and educate them about the benefits of spending time in a nature preserve with a conservation cemetery. We welcome gifts of all sizes.
Some of the goals of the Growing Bluestem campaign:
- Conservation Corps NC: Beginning in October, Bluestem will be a training site for crews of apprentice trail-builders, eager to clear invasives, carve out terrain for trails, attend to stormwater run-off, and cross creeks with some newly constructed bridges!
- Onsite Signage: We’re making plans to improve trail maps, build out our information center, and offer green burial information translated into Spanish.
- Infrastructure Upgrades: Bluestem will very soon have its own water supply. We have drilled for a well and once it is up and running, we can provide water for all visitors, our hardworking volunteer corps, even the cyclists biking down Hurdle Mills Road.
